At the deepest point in Banderas Bay, Los Arcos National Marine Park features caves, deep tunnels, arches and a healthy reef full of marine life.
HUMPBACKS AT EL CHIMO
This small fishing village to the south of Puerto Vallarta is home to spectacular drop-offs and hosts humpback whales and calves from April to December.
GIANT MORAY EELS AT EL MORRO
With depths up to 150 feet (50 meters), El Morro is more technical than most sites in Puerto Vallarta. It boasts huge manta rays and moray eels.
MANTAS AND WHALE SHARKS
At the Marietas Islands advanced divers can see larger species who ride the currents from the distant blue, including mantas and whale sharks..

Marietas Islands
Marine Reserve is a paradise of untouched tropical beauty, above and below the waves. When you scuba dive at the Marietas Islands, you will glide along an underwater mountain range that offers the perfect conditions for observing the fascinating marine creatures that call the reserve home.
In these clear waters, volcanic formations, arches, spires, tunnels, and caves create the perfect setting for an amazing dive. You’ll see tropical fish, giant manta rays and other creatures of the deep.
PRINCESA SHIPWRECK
Shipwrecks attract divers who want to learn more about history, see a ship’s mechanisms in a whole new way or enjoy the artificial reefs that form when ships sink. Come and experience one of the most exciting dive sites in Puerto Vallarta: a cemetery of small shipwrecks near the Beach of Mismaloya, a cemetery of small shipwrecks, where the main attraction are the remains of the ship Princess Vallarta.
CHIMO
Chimo is a secluded fishing village located in the south of Banderas Bay. Its privileged location close to the edge of the bay, makes this unique dive site a rich environment for tropical fish and large pelagics like manta rays. Getting to see “Las Iglesias”, rock formations that emerge from the bottom of the ocean, like pillars of a cathedral.
LAS CALETAS
Located on the Southern shore of Banderas Bay, this cove is an ideal place for those new to diving to learn the ropes and also offers plenty for experienced divers to explore. You’ll see garden eels, jaw fish, rays, turtles and larger fishes. Do you want to dive in an exclusive spot that is beautiful and rated for both beginner and experienced divers? When you scuba dive in Las Caletas, there is a lot to see (thanks to amazing visibility) plus the kind of calm waters and gentle currents that let you focus on what’s around you. The marine life is bountiful here, so turtle and tropical fish enthusiasts will have plenty to enjoy. There are also two sunken shipwrecks to witness!
LOS ARCOS
Los Arcos in Banderas Bay is home to El Bajo, the fascinating underwater mountain range, and Devil’s Canyon, as well as lobsters, octopuses, rays, eels, morays and other fascinating marine life you’ll discover under the waves.
The waters here are some of the deepest in Banderas Bay and their depths conceal deep tunnels, caves and arches, teeming marine life like rays and sea turtles and a thriving reef. Los Arcos is particularly famous for its brilliantly colored nudibranchs and the other small creatures who call the rocky underwater slopes home.
LOS ANEGADOS
You will love exploring the caves and fascinating rock formations that lie below the surface and swimming among the nurse sharks. You’ll also see turtles, seahorseses as you join bottom dwellers like rays and eels and then pelagics like jacks and tuna in waters. Los Anegados is peppered with caves and punctuated by intricate rock formations that are the perfect hiding spots for creatures both large and small.

El Morro
Is sometimes called the most secluded dive site in Puerto Vallarta, but it is definitely one of the most striking. The pinnacles that are the first sign you’ve reached El Morro are also what make it so unique a site. They rise from the ocean floor and are pockmarked with dozens of tunnels and caves that are teeming with marine life – all of which you can discover on this dive.
A Diversity of Creatures Awaits
Down below El Morro you might see lobsters and turtles, octopuses and seahorses, jacks and yellowtails along with sharks, dolphins and the biggest eels and most awe-inspiring manta rays you’ve ever seen. Then there are the coral and the sponges, which come in every conceivable color and are home to too many varieties of tropical fish to count. It is a spectacle of color!
The Caverns at El Morro
The start of your scuba dive in El Morro involves diving down 90 feet, where you’ll see cave openings in front of you. It’s difficult to see inside, but those daring enough to enter will be rewarded with two things. First, rocky granite walls teeming with invertebrates like sea fans and coral, along with brilliant nudibranchs and scurrying shrimp. Sometimes an octopus will speed by! And second, a brilliant view of the surrounding sea. The darkness of the cave makes the brilliant clarity of the water all the more stunning.
LA CORBETEÑA
With its crystal clear waters and incredible visibility, La Corbeteña is a dive site you don’t want to miss. Northwest of Puerto Vallarta, 36 miles off the shore, you’ll find the rock that marks the spot where caves, arches, and steep walls await those underwater explorers experienced enough to cope with the sometimes challenging currents. Once you’re beneath the waves you’ll enjoy close encounters with huge schools of Jacks, giant rays, reef sharks, sailfish, marlin and whale sharks.
El Sequial
El Sequial, located outside of Banderas Bay, there is a unique submerged table top island that is a haven to a huge variety of marine life. Imagine traversing a giant sunken football field populated by massive sailfish and tuna and then peering over the side of the massive table into dark drop-offs below – a true underwater thrill.
