Deep Sea Fishing

The local coast, banks, and islands are full of sea life including big game fish such as Tuna, Marlin, Wahoo, Amberjack, Sail fish, Rooster fish, Mahi Mahi, Sierra, Pargo, among many others. Between June and December is the best time to catch Yellow Fin Tuna, Sailfish, and Blue and Black Marlin. Yearly, 300+ pound yellow fin tuna, 300+ pound marlin, among many other big fish, are caught here, in Mita. The best fishing and diving sites are 30 nautical miles closer to Punta de Mita than to Puerto Vallarta, which is about 45 minutes away. With it’s majestic beaches and relaxed attitude, this quant fishing village is a world class destination for all ages!

El Morro, Corbetena and The Banks is full of massive game fish, including marlin, sailfish, tuna, wahoo, and mahi mahi, and beyond is one of the prime reasons why anglers from all corners of the planet come here

Roco Corbetania Fishing aficionados will love the variety and options in these cooler waters where big trophy fish call home. Species include huge Yellowfin Tuna, some as big as 400 pounds. You’re also likely to see Blue, Striped, and Black Marlin weighing around 100 pounds. Sailfish, Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, Pargo, Bonito, Wahoo, and many more can also be found.

El Banco Known as the best fishing spot in the area, you’ll reel in trophy big game – Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo and so many more are all available here.

OFFSHORE
World class offshore action is often to be enjoyed when fishing Corbetania and El banco. Monster Black and Blue Marlin, schools of Dorado, Sailfish and giant Yellowfin Tuna, feast in these bait-rich water of the Eastern Pacific.Punta Mita is a top angling destinations for giant Yellowfin Tuna — 200 to 300-pounders and larger. At Fortuna Sportfishing we specialize in catching Yellowfin Tuna on poppers although most of the big ones are caught on live bait.

 THE FLY ROD.
Jacks, Snapper, Sierra Mackerel, Dorado, Bonito and Roosterfish. Not only are they eager to pounce on your fly, they are fairly easy to locate as they form large schools attacking bait near the surface. And you don’t have to travel great distances to find them as they frequent shallower waters closer to shore. So… more fishing, less boat ride.

Mita may be the hottest tropical vacation destination to be found, but it’s also a fishing community to its local inhabitants. There’s a reason that this is the way that the locals make their living, and it’s simply because the fishing is absolutely amazing all year around. A huge variety of enormous game fish and other great catches can be found off the shores of Punta Mita, and these are a few of the most popular:

Bottom Fish/Inshore

A huge variety of fish call the Bay home. These include Jack Crevalle, Red Snapper, Bonito, Skipjack Tuna, Grouper, Mahi Mahi, and many more. You won’t find huge trophy fish in these warmer waters. However, Banderas Bay offers calm waters close to shore, which are perfect for shorter trips and fishing novices.

The species you will find in the inshore are Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Sailfish, Jack Crevalle, Snappers, Roosterfish, Skipjacks, Bonito, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel

Inshore fishing
This expedition is perfect for families looking to approach the sport fishing world for the very first time and want to enjoy the many natural wonders that this beautiful region has to offer. It is also focused on experienced anglers who are searching for the perfect catch in the waters of Punta Mita, Nayarit.

You and your family will get to experience the adrenaline of inshore fishing. This adventure can be enjoyed by the whole family during the entire year where you can hunt species like dorado, roosterfish (catch and release only), snapper, African pompano, mackerel.

The abundance of reefs and underwater structures around Punta Mita creates the perfect ground to practice any art of fishing like trolling, jigging, casting or live baiting.

 INSHORE
Punta Mita is home to some of the world’s most explosive inshore fishing action. Aggressive predators such as Cubera Snapper and Roosterfish readily attack poppers and stickbaits cast along the many sandy beaches and rocky coastlines. Fishing live baits in combination with this top water technique is also deadly in attracting explosive visual strikes. The avid top water angler should arrive with at least a half-dozen surface plugs.
