Ensenada
Today’s Ensenada offers year-round, very good to excellent bottom fishing, and seasonal offshore fishing in an extremely comfortable and enjoyably modern Mexican city with many attractions, excellent restaurants, and lodging facilities available in all price ranges. It’s a great spot for a quick weekend getaway, with interesting things to do for the whole family and waters full of huge fish.
heaven for deep sea anglers.
With Deep Sea Fishing so good, Ensenada is a haven for deep sea angler.
If it’s big food fish you’re after, you don’t have to look far.
Fishing is so good that it’s easy to forget everything else the Ensenada has to offer. Stunning coast, sandy beaches, amazing food and great music.

Deep Sea Fishing
Head out in search of big game like Marlin and Sailfish, exploring the deep blue water and beyond is one of the reasons anglers from all over come to Ensenada.
Inshore & Bottom Fish
Local catches include yellowtail, barracuda, halibut, whitefish, white sea bass, calico bass, ling cod, bonito and rock cod.
The excellent bottom fishing found around the tip of Punta Banda and points south is similar to what is found north of Santa Barbara, and it is somewhat because of an abundance of rocky structures. The water is so productive, good fishing is available virtually any day of the year.
The productive action around the rocks of Punta Banda gives you a genuine taste of the “old Baja” way of fishing, and the catch is usually limits of all the typical bottom species, plus occasional halibut and white seabass in the spring, and yellowtail in summer.
Prime time fishing season in Todos Santos Bay starts in April and ends in October seasonal catches include yellowtail, bonito, barracuda, white sea bass, calico bass, and sand bass.
Thrill seekers looking to throw a hook to a unique capture can go out at night to fish what they call the devil of the sea: the giant Humboldt squid, an absolute challenge for the most intrepid. Imagine: they will set up strong lights to make him come up from the depths of the ocean. Once you get him on the boat it will still attack and send red flashes of color across his body. The thrill cannot be described with words.
Bahía de Todos Santos still provide excellent year-round bottom fishing for lingcod and all kinds of rockfish, very good kelp bed fishing for barracuda, bonito, calico bass, and summer yellowtail,
Very rich bottom fishing spots running south to Maximino Reef, Puerto Santo Tomas, and Punta China.
Todos Santos Island, Punta Banda and San Miguel Reef.
Panga Boat Fishing is an all year event. What you catch is based on seasons, in the winter you fish more on the bottom and you can catch Cod, Bass, Tree fish, Red Snapper, Ling Cod (my favorite), Sand Bass and Giant Bass. During the warmer months you can still fish on the bottom, but the surface could have Bonita, Barracuda, Calico Bass, or Yellow Tail running.
Surf Fishing
If you’d rather fish from the shore we recommend you head South to the estuary before Punta Banda. Most popular locations are next to the El Faro Hotel, El Estero, El Muellecito or Campo 7 at the point. You can fish for flounder, bass, manta rays and other fish.
Sand Sharks, Sting Rays, and even Manta Rays. Corvina, Yellowfin Croaker, Perch, and Bass have been caught right in front.
Fishing Season
There is sports fishing year round for species like marlin, but the peak season is between May and October. During these warmer months you can go fishing for yellowfin and bluefin tuna -the best time is August – but also albacore, bass, dorado, bonita and barracuda. From November on, go fishing for deep dwellers like cod.
Prime time fishing season in Todos Santos Bay starts in April and ends in October seasonal catches include yellowtail, bonito, barracuda, white sea bass, calico bass, and sand bass.
